Born Again
August 15, 2008
Has anybody ever tried to find out how it feels to be born? Everyone knows how a mother feels when she gives birth to a child – joy, love, relief, pleasure with pain, the feeling of creation… but how does a baby feel? Does anyone know how it feels to be born? Does anyone know how the Earth must have felt when God created it? The Bible says that God was pleased with what he had created. So we know God’s feelings. But there come moments in life, when you may not exactly feel like being born, but it may come close to that. A feeling of gaining a new life, reliving the moment, the feeling of being born.
It comes in varied forms – when one scrapes through a fatal accident, or is saved from the clutches of a debilitating illness. A change in job, a change in project, marriage, a change in religion, a change in place, all of these moments come close to be being born. Because just like a child is displaced from it’s mother’s womb, so also we get placed in an unknown, and new situation. But then, why do we, unlike little children, not learn to adapt to the new and the unknown? Why do we fear what we fearlessly strode into as little children?
Of Rains and Love’s Arms
August 13, 2008
It is a great moment, these rains. They have the power to make you feel in this make-believe world of human egos, technological wonders and disillusioned futures of the power of Nature and of God. It is one thing, that we in our entire scientific knowledge and amassed civilized wisdom of centuries haven’t been able to create. We understand how it rains, but we are not able to replicate it. Alright, some scientists are toying with it, on a small scale, and are trying to replicate it. But I do not think it is possible to recreate it completely. Or it won’t have the same magic. The magic that a little drop of rain creates, when it patters down the sidewalk, when it falls on my cheek and wets it, when it drops in my outstretched palm and I hold on to it as if to savor it forever.
Better Late Than Never – Rock On Review
August 8, 2008
It is funny when certain trends catch up when they have actually passed out of vogue in other places. India is ripe for such trends. Every new fashion, style, mantra or music makes its arrival slightly late out here, putting us out of sync with the rest of the world. Most of this was to be blamed on our repressive socialistic economic policies, but now things look better. After all, Hollywood does once in a while include India in its Worldwide Releases and the iPhone is supposed to be launched in India with many other countries. Likewise, suddenly this rock music fetish has taken India by storm. Wherever you go, everyone wants to be a rocker, the slogans all sound like “Life Rocks”, “Let’s Rock”, etc. etc. And for any trend to get approval in India, it has to be evaluated, agreed upon and adopted by that all-governing body of Indian culture, Bollywood. So well, when Bollywood comes out with a movie about rock stars and their lives, how can the rest of India be left behind?
Raj and The Arajya
August 7, 2008
In the month of February, for a period of almost 10 days, Maharashtra, and especially Mumbai, was living with the Sword of Damocles hanging over its mighty head. It was an irony that the Sword was wielded by one of its self-proclaimed ‘Son of the Soil’, one Mr. Raj Thackeray. And once again the reason being the age-old ‘Sons of the Soil vs. The Outsiders’ issue; the Outsiders this time being North Indians.
It transported me back to a day and age when the mighty Hitler had called for an ethnic cleansing of ‘The Fatherland’ Germany, by asking his Nazis to destroy and exterminate the Jews in Germany. To call for a ban or an excommunication on a certain section of society based on their regional ancestry, caste, culture or creed reeks of an uncivilized & barbarian mentality. A mentality in which there is no place for the ideals of brotherhood, humanity, & justice and which views the world in an almost animalistic fear because you feel that even your neighbor possesses the same mentality.
So I finally went to watch The Dark Knight. And I’ll go again. And again. Maybe alone. Maybe together if you accompany me. But don’t blame me if I don’t talk to you during the movie. And I’d rather you didn’t talk to me too.
Well, by now you must’ve understood that like millions of others, even I am liking, loving, living and raving about The Batman and the latest edition out in cinemas. And well, ideally, a review is supposed to come out just before the movie or a day after its release. But well, I’ve my own way of doing things, and by now, you should be well-acquainted with my lack of method and direction. So this is my view, review and feelings about The Dark Knight.

The Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany is on baby, and boy, does it rock!!! And it will, with Iron Maiden headlining the event!!! Since I don’t earn much to travel all the way to Germany and back, and though you’ve been generous with your love and admiration, it would look highly embarrassing to ask you for donations 😦 😦 😦 So well, while Maiden (Gods) rocks the pants off thousands in Germany, I thought I’ll try the same among a few hundreds here… And hence, this 2-part episode of Thursday Nights, the ivanblogs Open Air Festival!!! And to check out the real one, you can go here and have fun
